Endless Diamonds Mosaic Blanket - Crochet Pattern

There’s something mesmerising about geometric patterns, and the Endless Diamonds Mosaic Blanket is no exception! Inspired by the beauty of the night sky, where stars glitter like diamonds, this design brings a sense of rhythm and structure to your crochet projects.

This pattern uses overlay mosaic crochet, a technique that might just become your new favourite if you haven’t tried it yet! Here are five reasons why overlay mosaic crochet is so amazing:

  1. Only One Colour Per Row – No need to switch colours mid-row or carry multiple strands. Just work with one colour at a time!

  2. Minimal Ends to Weave In – Unlike some other colourwork techniques, overlay mosaic crochet results in fewer pesky yarn tails to deal with.

  3. Clear, Easy-to-Follow Charts – The structured nature of mosaic crochet means you can follow a graph intuitively, making it a great choice for visual learners.

  4. Fascinating Texture – The raised stitches create a stunning, tactile design that looks complex but is surprisingly simple to achieve.

  5. Completely Customisable – You can easily adjust the size by adding or removing repeats, making it perfect for everything from a cosy lap blanket to a grand statement bed throw.

The Endless Diamonds Mosaic Blanket allows you to explore all the beauty of this technique in a straightforward, satisfying project. Wherever you are on your crochet journey, you’ll love watching the pattern unfold with each row!

Overlay Mosaic Crochet Basics

  • All rows are worked from right to left.

  • The yarn colour changes with every row i.e. you ONLY use ONE colour per row – ignore any changes in colour of the chart squares, they simply show what the final design will look like. You will need to fo at the end of every row.

  • Every row contains the same number of st.

  • The first and last st in every row is a sc.

    • The first st is indicated by a square with a letter e.g. ‘A’ or ‘B’ in the chart.

    • The final st is indicated by a square with a ‘+’ in the chart.

  • BLOsc are indicated by a square without a ‘X’ in the chart.

  • FLOdc are indicated by a square with a ‘X’ in the chart.

  • All FLOdc are worked into the same-coloured stitch two rows down.

  • The red lines on the chart indicate the repeating section.

Each pattern repeat is 12st wide. This blanket can be crocheted any multiple of 12 wide (+3 st to even out the design). For example, a sixteen repeat blanket would require (16 x 12) +3 = 195st.
