My journey with this pattern began with a call from Crochet Foundry, seeking designs for their Winter 2023 edition. Inspired by themes suggested by the magazine and nudged by my co-working friend Joanne, I submitted three designs. To my joy, the Caitlin Zigzag Shrug was selected for publication, marking a milestone in my design journey.
This shrug is part of the Caitlin series, which includes a Zigzag Blanket, Cowl, and Scarf. The Caitlin Zigzag Blanket holds sentimental value as it was the pattern that launched Elimee Designs, created for my best friend's new baby. The shrug's conception stemmed from a moment of inspiration, recalling a design I had crafted years ago with the same filet motif. With an attempt at sketching (bearing in mind my limited drawing skills), I sent my proposal, eagerly awaiting their response.
Upon acceptance, it was time to order the hook and yarn. While the yarn was predetermined, I had the delightful task of choosing a hook. Naturally, I gravitated towards the closest shade of purple in their wooden options. Crafting the sample piece was a joy, and recruiting testers in various sizes ensured the pattern's universality. The final steps involved meticulous editing with a tech editor and preparing for the pattern launch. Now, as the pattern emerges, I sincerely hope you find as much joy in making it as I did in designing it!
